Syphilis: Causes, Symptoms & Home Remedies

Syphilis refers to the sexually transmitted infection or STI which is mainly caused by the bacteria named as Treponema pallidum. It is caused due to sexual intercourse. It is a contagious disease and hence spreads from one person to the other through sexual intercourse. Due to weakness in the immune system of the body, the pathogens responsible for causing this disease are transmitted to others through sexual intercourse or even blood transfusion. These pathogens grow and become the reason for disease. The disease is apparent in three stages which may be present in some patients and may be absent in some others.

Causes of Syphilis

As stated above, syphilis is mainly caused due to sexual contact. Any type of sexual contact such as anal, oral or even sometimes kissing may be the reason for syphilis. A painless ulcer or sore is produced on the body of the infected person. A liquid is discharged from this sore which contains syphilis bacteria. The bacteria are then transmitted to another person through contact of the open or broken skin. The bacteria may also be transferred from a pregnant mother to the child.

Symptoms of Syphilis

The most common and apparent symptom of syphilis is the appearance of a sore which is visible in 10 to 100 days after the infection. Some other symptoms include rashes on the skin, mild fever, headache, fatigue, and anemia.

Ayurvedic viewpoint about syphilis

According to Ayurveda, sexual activity is essential for reproduction but sometimes it leads to serious diseases such as syphilis. In this action, pathogens are also transmitted to other’s bodies which become responsible for the occurrence of this serious disease. It is due to a weak immune system of the recipient of the bacteria. So the main aim of Ayurveda is to enhance immunity of the body to fight against bacteria and other pathogens.
