Ayurvedic Viewpoint about Migraine
Ayurveda considers Migraine to be a result of some inherent or sub-conscious problems in human body. These problems are related to digestive system and the nervous system of human body. The Pitta dosha is intensified by the unhealthy diet and lifestyle. It leads to problems relevant to digestion due to which impurities or toxins are caused. These toxins settle in the channels of mind and lead to severe headaches in the form of migraine.
The sensitivity of nervous system is also responsible for migraine as it lowers down the level of energies in the body. Consequently, the nervous system becomes weak and is not able to fight against the internal and external changes and leads to severe headache.
Suggestions for Diet & Lifestyle
Migraine patients should drink plenty of water to flush out toxins from the body. Similarly, fruits, vegetables, whole-grains and fiber-rich foods must be included in diet to keep digestive system in proper working order.
Foods which trigger or aggravate the condition must be avoided. Some of these foods are refined foods, tea, coffee, alcohol, caffeine, excessive salty, spicy or sugary foods, white flour or white sugar products, sour or citrus fruits, fermented foods, and animal products.
Do not work under sunlight or intense heat conditions. Keep your mind and body free from stress and anxiety. Carry out inverted yoga poses. Have proper rest and sleep to keep brain relaxed.
